Great work, with this caveat.....
The Reappearance of the Christ

Relaxing but not MonotonousIn typical Aird fashion, the dialog is often quite cryptic and the mystery is somewhat thin. If you like mysteries for the clues, the red herrings, the complex puzzle building, Aird is not for you. If, however, you enjoy irony and the fine sketches of various personalities (in the context, of course, of a murder), Aird is a good choice.
Recommendation: I'm a firm believer that readers make all the difference in the enjoyment of an audiotape. If you've never heard Robin Bailey before, check one of his audios out of the library first.

Looking for the will of God?The teachings of Jesus Christ shook the traditions that had arisen during the four hundred years between the testaments and He fulfilled the Law in a way that few had ever anticipated. To follow Him requires the utmost, yet those who do so find that they gain the abundant life that Jesus came to give.
In practice, discipleship was arguably the most difficult teaching of Jesus. In this book Mark Bailey explores what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. He finds seven distinct characteristics that must be found in the life of anyone who ventures to "take up his cross" and follow Christ. I have listed them below with a few of the Scripture references that Bailey used to support them (so you can study their impact for yourself):
Supreme and incomparable love for Jesus - Matt. 10:35-37. Regular study and devotion to God's Word - Jn. 8:31-32; Heb. 5:11-14 Renunciation of yourselves as the authority and focus of our lives - Matt. 16:24; James 1:23-25; Gal. 5:16-25 A life of submission and sacrifice to the cross - Matt. 16:24; Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Cor. 3:3; 2 Cor. 4:11; Gal 2:20. Allegiance to Christ's compelling leadership -1 Kings 19:19-62; Matt. 4:18-22; Lk. 9:57,59,61,62. Recognition of the true ownership of our possessions - Lk. 14:28-33; 1 Cor. 6:19,20. Reflection of Christ's love in our attitudes and actions toward others - John 13:34-35; Jn. 15:1-17; 1 Tim. 1:5.
This is just the skeleton of the book and it already looks convicting. Well, it is...and it should be. Bailey has grabbed a very unpopular teaching from Jesus and placed it in a society of Christians that desperately need it. He comments on Matt. 16:24 by saying "if Jesus were extending that call today, He might say, 'If any of you wishes to follow me, wire your own electric chair, then buckle yourself in, and follow Me. Drop the cyanide capsule into the solution to start up the gas chamber, and follow Me.'" (p.85).
The Christian life should be a radical breach from the life of our culture, but it is the highest life. It is to this life that we were created, to live and enjoy. It is this life that will flourish in the kingdom when Jesus returns to rule over it Himself. The difficulty of the task lies in the fact that He wants us to exemplify it here and now and represent Him to the world through our lives as His children. What an awesome privilege and responsibility.
Mark Bailey has written To Follow Him in an easy to read style and is even a bit conversational at times. Each chapter is filled with potent illustrations, mostly from his own life, and vivid descriptions of the biblical passages in consideration. Each chapter is followed by discussion questions to provoke the reader's thinking and readiness to follow the example of the Master. This book is obviously the product of William MacDonald's book, True Discipleship, which was published in 1975. I could have only wished for a more exhaustive treatment of this supremely important teaching. In summary, this contemporary book will help Christians who read it to understand and live out true biblical discipleship.
A popular treatment of Jesus' discipleship sayings.

The Man Who "Vitamins" A Social CauseHerbert Bailey's latest book about vitamin is the only one of his seven books not out of print. For anyone interested in the history of the political struggle to make vitamins respected and mainstream, or anyone interested in the scientific subject of vitmins and vitamin E in particular, this book is essential reading, for Herbert Bailey is the Father of the Vitamin Revolution.

A phenomenal review of one of the greater events of the 80's

Another fine seletion of Beetle
You see, as Jesus said, "there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, who shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that they shall deceive and seduce the very elect." (Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22) That was not merely to warn us of imposters and pretenders. It was also to confirm that the person who would actually fulfill Judeo-Christian prophecy would not be the Christ, but His messenger.
Other evidence of this is that the prophesied messenger is the "bridegroom-lamb," our "brother and fellow servant who has the testimony of Jesus" (Revelations 19:10). He is also the messenger for the "Spirit of Truth" that Jesus said would come, to "guide us unto all truth, show us things to come, and glorify me (Jesus)." (John 16:13-14) What's more, he is the "son of man who (unlike Jesus) first suffered many things and was rejected by his generation," as prophesied by Jesus. (Luke 17:24-25 and Isaiah 49:4) He is also the son of man who was first "stricken and afflicted." (Isaiah 53:4 and 57:15-17) All those biblical facts, along with others, indicate the truth about today's messenger of God, who is not a superman, and not holier than thou, but a prodigal son of man who delivers the true message for the Spirit of Truth.
The messenger has no personal agenda and will play no other role. In fact, he prefers to remain anonymous and writes under a pen name. He fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah in that "the servant and witness of God will not make his voice heard in the street" (or in public), but sends "his work before him." (Isaiah 42:1-2 and 62:11) He says the world does not need another would-be savior to scorn and crucify, or to exalt and put on a pedestal, and no man should be tempted with such great worldly power or bear its responsibility. He says the world needs truth, and nothing but the truth, and submits that the new covenant of God frees us from sovereign authority or sovereign leadership of any kind. He says there is no hierarchy in Christ, and he repeats what Isaiah wrote, that "besides God there is no savior." (Isaiah 43:10-11)
The book is titled Real Prophecy Unveiled, by Joseph J. Adamson. It's really about our total liberation and the fulfillment of prophecy, and it includes a comprehensive critique of what and who causes our main problems. It turns the tables on the Religious Right, establishing that Jesus (like all other enlightened ones) was really a "bleeding heart liberal," and it exposes the error and hypocrisy of right-wing religious leaders who claim otherwise. This, the messenger submits, is absolutely necessary because in order for the humble and meek to inherit the earth, the proud and militant must be exposed and rebuked to fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah and Jesus. And he is not "lukewarm and neither hot or cold" about it, knowing the Christ's desire that the judgment from the son of man be strong and firm.
The messenger also establishes the value and need for secular government, separation of church and state, equality of religions, and an end to misguided patriarchal traditions. He also dispels myths and false beliefs and explains the value of esoteric teachings. He even gives us a way to abolish partisan politics and be rid of the "pretender to the throne" so we can share the throne of God's "new kingdom" as the equal joint heirs that we really are according to the Bible, creating government that is finally of, for, and by the people. It is an overall view of prophecy we can enthusiastically live with and even celebrate!
That is why, unless an actual Maitreya actually reveals himself and demonstrates that he is not merely a false christ who shows great signs and wonders, I will accept Joseph's work as the message from the Spirit of Truth. While there are many claims being made about the existence or the coming of the Christ (AKA the Saoshyant/Avatar/Buddha/Imam Mahdi), Joseph evidently is the person who really serves the Holy One according to prophecy.
